  Dr. Harter – Updates in Pediatric Atopic Dermatitis – Focus on Therapeutics

  1. Evaluate emerging and established systemic and topical therapies for pediatric atopic dermatitis, including biologic and oral JAK inhibitor options, with consideration of age-specific indications, efficacy, safety, and monitoring.
  2. Develop an individualized therapeutic approach to moderate-to-severe pediatric atopic dermatitis based on disease severity, comorbidities, treatment history, patient/family preferences, and the evolving pediatric therapeutic landscape.
  3. Recognize common clinical scenarios in which treatment escalation, therapeutic switching, or alternative approaches should be considered in children and adolescents with atopic dermatitis.

  Dr. Harter – Genodermatoses that Walk into the Pediatric Dermatology Clinic…and Other Interesting Cases

  1. Recognize key clinical features and pattern-recognition clues that suggest an underlying genodermatosis, including findings involving the skin, hair, nails, teeth, mucosa, and extracutaneous organs.
  2. Construct a focused differential diagnosis and diagnostic evaluation for selected pediatric genodermatoses, incorporating clinical examination, family history, targeted laboratory testing, and genetic testing when appropriate.
  3. Apply practical diagnostic and management strategies to challenging pediatric dermatology cases, identifying when a seemingly isolated dermatologic finding warrants broader systemic evaluation, genetic counseling, or multidisciplinary care.

  Dr. Cleveland – Volunteerism in Dermatology

  1. Establish the value of volunteerism in dermatology.
  2. Define how personality traits influence effective volunteerism.
  3. Recognize multiple options for volunteer opportunities in dermatology and learn practical approaches to become involved in volunteerism with an emphasis to match available resources with personal passion.
  4. Gain an appreciation that volunteerism can fit any stage of a career and share lessons learned from real experiences.

  Dr. Van Beek – Health Care Advocacy:  If You’re Not at the Table, You Are on the Menu

  1. Review legislative and regulatory oversight of health care delivery
  2. Delineate the pressures on Medicare payment policy
  3. Recognize multiple ways for advocacy involvement at the state and federal levels
